You can be a part of the school construction and healthcare projects the Impact DR team will work on this fall! Our RCC team will be joining Chad and Terri Nelson and the Child Hope team in the Dominican Republic for a short-term trip in November. Together they will partner with Pastor Ramon and Flerida Reynoso and their church of 150, Heavenly Jerusalem Assembly of God, in San Isidro, a subdivision of Santo Domingo. In addition to sharing the hope of Jesus, the team will work on a school construction project and help provide needed healthcare in Jesus’ name! It's our goal to raise $10,000 to Impact the DR! Give now through August 21!
Exciting things are planned for those who will be on the Evangelism Team. Those with a heart for children will be using art, games, skits, and stories to teach about Jesus and his unconditional love. Other members of the team will use their gifts and knowledge of the Gospel to teach, preach, and spread the Good News of Jesus. From the youngest to the oldest, there will be opportunities to respond, have their questions answered, and to feel the love of the Lord through the Evangelism Team.
The RCC Medical Team will serve with Dr. Daniel and Nurse Laurie, who live in the DR and are aware of local needs in the community. Together, practitioners from both nations will provide examinations, treatment, and medicines to those who have little access to healthcare. The church-sponsored school of five hundred students and their families will receive not only medical care, but also individual prayer to the Great Physician for physical and spiritual healing.
Currently, the school sponsored by the local church is cramped, dark, and inadequate for the 500 students attending classes there. The only available classrooms, sized no greater than a two-bedroom home, necessitates a schedule where children can only be there to study on rotating days and times. The Construction Team will be working on the new, three story facility that is being erected. The work is well underway! When completed, the new school building will be light, bright, and roomy, encouraging education and socialization for the local children in a Christian environment. The new facility can serve 900 students!
Our teaching team will partner with local instructors to love, encourage, and equip them in their gifting to instruct the children of their community. Those who teach in the DR will be reminded that they are faithful stewards of His good work when they serve their students. The team will facilitate seminars that offer special education training, provide resources, and establish teaching strategies for the local teachers.
